Apprentice Carpenter
About This Role
Our Apprentice Carpenters assist in crafting wooden structures under the guidance of a skilled carpenter or Supervisor/Manager. Responsibilities include learning trade skills, handling tools, and performing tasks such as measuring, cutting, and assembling materials at Bosman Homefront, in Palmerston, Ontario.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in measuring and cutting materials to the required specifications
- Assist in assembling and joining materials using nails, screws, staples or adhesives
- Help in fitting and installing windows, frames, floorings, and fixtures
- Assist in interpreting blueprints and following instructions from supervisors and senior carpenters
- Keep the work area clean and organized
- Learn and adhere to safety procedures and regulations
- Attend training sessions and classes to enhance skills and knowledge
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Required Skills
- Basic carpentry knowledge and skills with at least 2 years experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy materials and equipment
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions from experienced carpenters
- Basic math skills for measuring and calculating dimensions
- Attention to detail and precision in work
- Good communication skills to work effectively with team members and supervisors
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and at different job sites as needed
