Our company provides planning, coordination, administration and supervision of various types of supportive programs for individuals with diversabilities. We create long-term care programs aiming to develop life-enriching abilities that encourage the physical, social, and emotional development of persons served, mostly children and youth with diverse abilities.
We are currently looking to expand our team with a Program Supervisor to help provide planning, coordination, administration and oversight of residential and community programs in the Okanagan area, as well as to perform administrative duties to support the Leadership team. Responsibilities include a wide range of administrative tasks as well as supporting the Program Manager. The Program Supervisor also participates in the bi-weekly, after-hours, on-call rotation. This role is part of an MCFD-funded program, therefore, all successful candidates must satisfy mandatory provincial hiring criteria and background competencies as dictated by our funding agreement and British Columbia’s regulatory framework.

Key Responsibilities
- Job Duties:
- Conduct intake and gather background information specific to children and youth with diverse-abilities and their families/guardians, preparing detailed intake reports.
- Assess the individual strengths, needs, and developmental goals of each child or youth with diverse-abilities within the residential setting.
- Collaborate with children/youth, their families/guardians, and other professionals to develop individualized support plans (ISPs) that promote independence, skill development, and well-being.
- Provide direct support and assistance to children and youth with diverse-abilities in their daily routines, including personal care, hygiene, meals, and participation in household tasks, adapting approaches to their individual needs and abilities.
- Facilitate opportunities for social interaction, peer engagement, and community inclusion for the children and youth, considering their diverse communication styles and social skills.
- Implement and adapt life skills training, behaviour support plans, and other therapeutic interventions as outlined in the ISPs and under the guidance of supervisors and other professionals.
- Provide a safe, supportive, and structured living environment that respects the individual needs and preferences of each child or youth with diverse-abilities.
- Assist children and youth with diverse-abilities in accessing and utilizing community resources relevant to their needs, such as specialized medical services, recreational programs, and advocacy organizations in the Kelowna area.
- Counsel children and youth in the residential setting, providing emotional support, guidance, and strategies for managing their feelings and building resilience.
- Monitor and document the progress of each child or youth towards their ISP goals, observing behavioural changes and responses to interventions, and communicating this information to the team.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to children and youth experiencing emotional distress or behavioural challenges within the residential setting, following established protocols and seeking appropriate support.
- Implement and organize specific activities and programs within the residential setting that are tailored to the interests and abilities of children and youth with diverse-abilities, promoting engagement and skill development.
- Maintain regular communication with families/guardians, schools, therapists, and other involved professionals to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to supporting the child or youth's overall development and well-being, adhering to privacy and confidentiality guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date program records and data as required for evaluation and reporting purposes.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced support workers or volunteers within the residential setting.
- Stay informed about best practices, relevant legislation, and resources available for children and youth with diverse-abilities.

- Special Requirements:
- Criminal Records and Child Welfare screening checks
- Full driver’s license – Class 5 (ability to drive a minivan)
- Submission of a clean Driver’s Abstract
- Have a working cell phone at all times while you are at work, to be used in emergencies and to be able to contact or receive calls or text messages from staff members
- Good English language skills, a resumé and references are required.
Qualifications
- Qualifications/Education Requirements:
- Completion of a university program in social work, child and youth care, psychology or other social science or health-related discipline is required
- Able to meet the requirements of MCFD (this role is part of an MCFD-funded program, therefore, all successful candidates must satisfy mandatory provincial hiring criteria and background competencies as dictated by our funding agreement and British Columbia’s regulatory framework):
- three years relevant related experience, including one year supervisory or administrative experience (or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience)
- specific training in behavioural modification, children under 12 years of age with support needs, attachment-based parenting, and relationship-based interventions (Trauma-informed practice)
- Prior work experience of at least 6 months in residential and non-residential programs (or a combination of experience and education) is a plus
- Able to use google docs, the calendar, etc
- Able to navigate things like our payroll platform, Payworks
- Preference will be given to those who have experience working with complex behaviours and special needs
- Preference will be given to those with knowledge of and direct experience in provincial or community social service programs
- Current and valid Standard First Aid with CPR Level C (or willingness to obtain before end of training period)
- Employees new to the company must comply with a paid basic training of 160 hours, which is progressive and adapts to the needs of the person

- Job Details:
- this is a full-time, on-site position (4 vacancies) for 1 year or longer and (at least) 30 hours per week
- wage range, depending on experience, and including incremental raises: $30.03 to $38.77
