Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional programs in Chinese folk dance, ethnic dance, and Chinese classical dance for students of various age groups and skill levels
- Teach dance techniques, choreography, rhythm, posture, movement coordination, and stage performance skills
- Develop and adapt lesson plans according to students’ abilities, training objectives, and performance requirements
- Train students for public performances, competitions, cultural festivals, recitals, and community events
- Choreograph and rehearse group and solo dance performances featuring traditional Chinese and multicultural ethnic dance styles
- Provide instruction in various folk dance styles such as Mongolian, Tibetan, Uyghur, Dai, Miao, and Northeastern Yangko dance
- Evaluate student progress and provide ongoing feedback to students and parents regarding technical development and performance readiness
- Maintain a safe, disciplined, and supportive classroom environment
- Collaborate with academy staff on performance planning, cultural programming, and student development initiatives
- Assist with costume coordination, music selection, and stage rehearsal preparation for performances and competitions
Required Skills
Qualifications
- Completion of post-secondary education in dance, dance education, performing arts, or a related field
- Experience teaching Chinese dance, ethnic folk dance, or related performance arts preferred
- Strong practical knowledge of Chinese ethnic dance styles and choreography techniques
- Experience participating in stage performances, competitions, or cultural productions is considered a strong asset
- Ability to work with children and youth in a structured educational environment
