About This Role

A private household is seeking a reliable and caring Home Child Care Provider to provide full time care for children in a private household located in Squamish, British Columbia. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the children’s safety, well being, and daily care needs while maintaining a structured, nurturing, and healthy home environment.

The Home Child Care Provider will supervise and care for children in the employer’s residence, including preparing meals and snacks, assisting with personal hygiene, organizing educational and recreational activities, and supporting the children’s emotional and social development. Duties will also include maintaining daily routines such as meals, rest periods, and playtime, transporting children to and from school or appointments when required, and monitoring daily activities and health related information for the employer.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in child care or household management and demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Due to severe household allergies, strict adherence to food safety and allergy protocols is essential. The candidate must also demonstrate sound judgment, reliability, flexibility, and a high level of attention to safety and confidentiality in a private household setting.

This position requires the ability to manage multiple child related responsibilities in a fast paced environment while maintaining a positive and supportive atmosphere for the children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and care for children in the employer’s residence.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing home environment.
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks while following allergy and dietary protocols.
  • Assist children with daily routines including bathing, dressing, feeding, and personal hygiene.
  • Prepare infant formulas and change diapers as required.
  • Organize and supervise educational and recreational activities such as reading, crafts, games, music, and outdoor play.
  • Support children’s emotional well being and social development.
  • Oversee children’s schedules including meals, rest periods, school preparation, and playtime.
  • Transport children to and from school, appointments, and activities as required.
  • Monitor and record daily activities and relevant health information for the employer.
  • Ensure proper use and handling of child related equipment including strollers and car seats.
  • Maintain open and professional communication with parents regarding the children’s care and daily activities.

Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary school (high school diploma or equivalent).
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in child care, caregiving, or household management.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  • FOODSAFE Level 1 certification (or equivalent) due to severe household allergies.
  • Valid driver’s licence with the ability to transport children safely.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong knowledge of child safety, hygiene, nutrition, and daily care routines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple child related tasks.
  • Demonstrated reliability, flexibility, initiative, and good judgment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a private household setting.
  • Criminal record check and reference check required.
