Drafting Technician
About This Role
We need an experienced structural steel drafters in steel framing industry and have specialized knowledge on structural steel framing systems, foundations coordination, 3D modelling, and the production of accurate, construction-ready fabrication and erection drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data
- Create building information models (BIM), using computer software, to provide digital representations of physical and functional aspects of buildings and other engineering projects
- Operate computer-assisted design (CAD) and drafting workstations
- Develop and prepare design sketches
- Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets
- Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data
- Write technical reports
- Prepare contracts and tender documents
- Prepare construction specifications, costs and material estimates
- Supervise and train other technologists, technicians and drafters.
Required Skills
- Computer-aided design (CAD)
- Experience in relevant project management software
- Experience in relevant database software
- Punctuality, Accurate, Excellent oral and written communication, Flexibility, Organized, Reliability, Team player
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (preferred) or completion of 2-3 year college program in engineering design and drafting technology
- One of the following: Canadian citizen, Permanent resident of Canada, Temporary resident of Canada with valid work permit
- Minimum 2 years of experience in structural steel framing systems
