Finance Officer
About This Role
PGCC is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Finance Officer (Controller) to oversee the Club’s financial operations and support strategic decision-making.
Reporting directly to the General Manager/COO, the Finance Manager will provide financial leadership and ensure the integrity of all accounting, reporting, and administrative functions. This role plays a key part in budgeting, forecasting, audit coordination, and maintaining strong internal controls, while supporting department leaders across the Club.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Reporting
- Prepare and present accurate monthly financial statements and supporting analysis
- Lead the development of annual operating and capital budgets
- Monitor financial performance and advise on variances and corrective actions
- Maintain cash flow forecasts and long-term financial planning models
- Accounting & Controls
- Oversee all accounting functions, including A/R, A/P, payroll, and general ledger
- Ensure strong internal controls and compliance with financial policies
- Safeguard Club assets through effective financial oversight
- Audit & Compliance
- Coordinate and manage the annual audit process
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and local regulations
- Maintain adherence to Not-for-Profit and Canadian accounting standards
- Leadership & Administration
- Supervise and support administrative and accounting staff
- Collaborate with department heads to improve financial processes and reporting
- Support HR-related administration including payroll, benefits, and compliance
- Strategic & Operational Support
- Provide financial insights to the GM/COO and Board to support decision-making
- Assist with capital planning, project analysis, and investment evaluation
- Oversee financial aspects of vendor contracts and purchasing policies
- Systems & Technology
- Oversee accounting systems and financial reporting tools
- Support Club management software and related financial integrations
Required Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software (Jonas preferred), and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership ability and attention to detail
Qualifications
- CPA designation (or in final stages of completion)
- Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP and Not-for-Profit accounting practices
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
- Experience in private club, hospitality, or service-based environments is an asset
