About This Role
• Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the daily operations of the company's ship supply department engaged in the wholesale supply of provisions, bonded stores, cabin stores, technical stores and other merchandise and services to vessels.
• Manage and supervise employees involved in order processing, purchasing, inventory management, warehousing and delivery operations, and assign duties to ensure efficient workflow and timely vessel servicing.
• Communicate directly with vessel officers, ship management companies and customers to receive supply requests, prepare quotations, negotiate pricing and confirm orders.
• Determine the merchandise and services to be supplied to vessels and implement pricing strategies and quotation policies in accordance with customer requirements and market conditions.
• Source, select and negotiate with suppliers and vendors to procure merchandise and ensure the timely availability of products for resale and delivery to vessels.
• Plan and coordinate inventory levels and purchasing activities to ensure vessel orders are fulfilled accurately and within the limited port stay of vessels.
• Monitor operational expenses, control purchasing costs and evaluate departmental performance to improve efficiency, profitability and customer satisfaction.
• Evaluate and improve customer service standards and respond to customer requests, product issues and delivery concerns.
• Develop and implement procedures and operational strategies to improve order fulfillment, logistics coordination and service quality.
• Participate in staffing decisions, including the hiring, training, supervision and retention of employees.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, port regulations and safety procedures in all ship supply operations.
